Invasive JavaScript

Gruber On Unsubmitted Form Data Collection

“This might sound hyperbolic, but I mean it: I think we’d better off if JavaScript had never been added to web browsers.”

Very much this. The amount of time we all spend every day watching a page load, when the content is a simple text article with some images, because of JavaScript analytics, is so much larger than anyone thinks. It reminds me of that Jobs anecdote about the Mac boot time saving a live. Not to mention all of the scammy, invasive stuff like this that so many content publishes insist on having to squeeze every penny out of site viewers that they can. Browser side JavaScript sucks.
